Advertising Immersion and Experiential Learning

Credit: 1 TO 6 hours.

Covers a variety of topics designed to help students learn more about, and be better prepared to enter, the advertising industry as professionals. Course content will include an overview of careers in the advertising industry while paying particular attention to areas of future career growth. This course is centered on experiential learning where students will participate in interactive discussions and create advertising strategies with industry professionals at media related agencies and other industry businesses.

Credit hour(s) are determined by the instructor and approved by the department head. Additional fees may apply. See Class Schedule. Approved for both Letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 6 hours, if topics vary.

Amazon Advertising Certification and Global Overview Campaign Course - This industry immersion course is a partnership with Global Overview designed to provide students with an experiential learning opportunity relevant to building careers in advertising, marketing, media and related fields. Part One introduces students to an array of terminology, techniques, strategies, processes and practices related to a variety of advertising campaign solutions, with an emphasis on e-commerce. Students who successfully complete part one will receive professional certification from Amazon Advertising. Part Two will allow students to develop, pitch and implement a comprehensive campaign for real-world clients in collaboration with Faculty and Global Overview executives. Students who successfully complete both parts of the course will receive 3 hours of academic credit. Meets with ADV 490 AMZ (60179). If seats remain, they will open to non-majors by Noon on April 22.
