This course will 1) introduce the history of Pilates and highlight the key differences between classical Pilates (Joe’s original method) and contemporary approaches; 2) teach the full sequence of classical mat exercises with a focus on proper alignment, control, and execution; 3) deepen students’ understanding of how Pilates enhances strength, endurance, and performance in both athletic and everyday activities; and 4) build self-efficacy by giving students the confidence to practice Pilates independently while developing the self-sufficiency to incorporate it into their lifelong fitness routine.
