Credit: 3 hours.

Food security is a major concern globally, as well as nationally, and in the local community. Students will explore social and health issues related to food security and gain an understanding of the collaborative efforts for managing food security issues in the Urbana-Champaign and campus communities. Students will learn about food security-related organizations, feeding programs, educational programs, and health initiatives to combat food insecurity in the community. Students will learn via classroom instruction, online instruction, and community-based education and service learning.

Prerequisite: FSHN 101 or FSHN 120 or FSHN 220 or consent of instructor.
