MUS 135
Fall 2026 All Classes
Credit: 3 hours.
From everyday noise to experimental music, sound shapes how we experience the world. This course explores sound through physics, acoustics, psychology, music history, and composition, revealing how artists, especially electronic musicians, transform noise into art. Blending science, humanities, and creative practice, students will discover new ways of listening and thinking. Ideal for curious minds across disciplines, this course also serves as an introduction to more advanced general education offerings in the School of Music.
Students in the BA: Music Technology concentration and the BS: Computer Science+ Music degree are advised to take MUS 209 instead of MUS 135.
