Study of musical performance of the classical period, with an emphasis on the music of Haydn, Mozart, and early Beethoven; discussion of musical instruments, ornamentation, tempo, vibrato, etc., supplemented by demonstration performances using the University's collection of instruments.

Prerequisite: Graduate standing in music; for undergraduates, consent of instructor.
