MUS 499, Section MB will include a detailed study of the music business as it applies to pedagogy in general and jazz in particular. Students will study music/jazz publications/resources and books regarding the future of music to gain an insight into functioning in the ever-evolving business of music. Emphasis will also be placed on networking in the music business as a tool for promotion. This class will touch on such topics as publishing, artist management, marketing and entertainment distribution as well as exploring the 'celestial jukebox' and the ramifications for professional musicians and music students.
