Description: • This course examines world history through a wide chronological lens, from the rise of new empires and spread of universalizing religions around 600 CE to the twentieth century. It is a selective overview, emphasizing large-scale patterns and connections in social, cultural, and political history in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. This course also explores power and inequality, while analyzing connections as well as the ruptures that impacted different peoples amid conquests, trade, colonialism, and imperialism. Furthermore, this course seeks to understand the historical implications that shaped the cultural tensions and socio-political conflicts that characterized the twentieth century.
