LER 199 – Research and Writing for Labor Studies Instructor Contact Information Name: Dr. Stephanie Fortado and Dr. Augustus Wood Email: seawell2@illinois.edu and woodiii2@illinois.edu Classroom: School of Labor and Employment Relations 504 E Armory 1st Floor Conference Rooms and Zoom Office Hours: By Appointment Course Description This independent study will engage each student in developing undergraduate research into an article-length piece of scholarship that can be used as a writing sample or as a stepping-stone to scholarly journal publication. The class will ground the students in social movement theory and application of theoretical frameworks to their writing. It will also provide an overview of labor studies research methodologies and the field of labor studies as a scholarly field. The primary focus of the independent study will be a collaborative research and writing seminar resulting in a final paper.
