FA26 ENGL 586 - Topics in Digital Studies - John Gallagher - AI and Culture - AI & Culture - This seminar aims to move past debates around whether generative AI (GenAI) is good or bad, instead focusing on the way that AI influences culture. The course is split into four parts: AI history, technical details of large language models, empirical effects of AI usage, and contemporary cultural debates around AI. In addition to a self-guided project of the student’s choosing as a final, we will focus on effects of AI on our own creative and professional writing processes.
