This course surveys a range of enduring and emergent approaches to the writing of film history, including studies centered on style, genre, technology, industry, socio-political figurations, and identities. While course readings focus on scholarship about feature-length narrative films from the US and the UK, the case studies will draw on a much broader sample of world cinema, and students can choose to submit work that considers avant-garde, documentary, and other cinematic forms.
Restriction(s):
Not intended for Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign.
