A president dubbed “Trump of the Tropics.” Histories of slavery and race relations with eerie similarities to (and interesting differences from) the United States. How do we make sense of recent events in Brazil, while placing them in historical context and relating them to the U.S. and other places? This course—which is accessible to non-majors and students with no knowledge about Brazil—allows you to tailor an individual project that will sharpen your understanding of the world.
