This course will 1) introduce the history of Pilates and highlight the key differences between classical Pilates (Joe’s original method) and contemporary approaches; 2) teach the full sequence of classical mat exercises with a focus on proper alignment, control, and execution; 3) deepen students’ understanding of how Pilates enhances strength, endurance, and performance in both athletic and everyday activities; and 4) build self-efficacy by giving students the confidence to practice Pilates independently while developing the self-sufficiency to incorporate it into their lifelong fitness routine. You may take another HK 100 topic for another credit in the same semester. If you have issues getting into another section, please contact the department for a duplicate override.
