Topic: "MUSIC THEORY AND MUSICIANSHIP PEDAGOGY." This course prepares students who may teach undergraduate courses in music theory and musicianship. In the class, we will discuss learning outcomes for the standard theory core, prepare lesson plans, learn different pedagogical techniques and singing systems, and teach real and demo classes in theory and musicianship. We will explore online resources, textbooks, and other useful materials. Lastly, the course critically evaluates the role theory/musicianship play in an undergraduate education, tackling questions about purpose, diversity, and accessibility.
