This class will focus on the practical side of becoming a professional singer or member of a music staff. Meetings will consist of regular mock auditions, student presentations on American opera houses and young artists¿ programs, and lectures/discussion by Dr. Gunn and guests about the structure and nature of our industry. It is understood that enrollment in this class means that a student is highly motivated to begin a career as a singer or coach/conductor in the near future. NOTE: For Artist Diploma, DMA and 2nd year Master's degree students in Vocal Performance.

Section Info:
This highly participatory class surveys both classic and contemporary styles of musical theatre repertoire and is appropriate for all levels of singing experience and ability. Methods of instruction include daily warm ups, vocal exercises, song memorization, and performances. There will be a great deal of feedback from the instructor.
