Provides pre-service music educators with a framework for designing and implementing developmentally appropriate music learning experiences for young children. Includes a survey of recent developments in the fields of early childhood and music education research and pedagogy that emphasize: assessing musical growth, integrating music into the curriculum, and accommodating individual differences in diverse learning settings. Early field experiences at the UIUC Child Development Laboratory are included in the course work.

Prerequisite: Senior or graduate standing in music, or consent of instructor.
