(SPAN 330) Studies colonial Spanish American written and pictorial texts. Emphasizes how women, mestizos, creoles, mulattos, indigenous people, and blacks wrote from within the colonial system and produced alternative accounts of the European presence in Spanish America.

Prerequisite: SPAN 454 or equivalent.
