Explores the evolving landscape of immersive and interactive theatre, examining how these forms engage audiences, break traditional theatrical conventions, and create dynamic, participatory experiences. Each offering of the course will focus on a topic within immersive and interactive performance, allowing students to engage with theoretical, historical, and practical perspectives.

3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms up to 12 undergraduate or 16 graduate hours, if topics vary.

Improv for Games
Section Info:
Meets with GSD 390-DHP. Whether you've seen it in your favorite Tabletop Role Playing game, on a television show like Whose Line is it Anyway, or in person at Second City, improvisation is everywhere. In this course, students will learn and practice basic improvisational techniques, with the goal of exploring fictional characters and scenarios in and around games and game design. Students will also get the opportunity to create new Improv games, and approach the space from a designer's perspective. No theater or game design experience is required!
