Musical Theatre Repertoire is a high-contact class, conducted in a studio setting. Methods of instruction include vocal exercises, studying and singing Musical Theatre repertoire, song memorization, studying and evaluating performances, and utilizing both class and individual evaluations. Vocal health and wellness are stressed as students become familiar with styles of singing in both classical and contemporary Musical Theatre.

2 undergraduate hours. 2 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 8 undergraduate hours or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Students must have two years of applied voice lessons (MUS 181) in order to register for this course. For Music majors, or by consent of instructor.

Musical Theatre Repertoire is an asynchronous course, conducted by means of the interactive, video feedback platform GoReact. Fall semester is dedicated to the context, selection, and performance of Contemporary Musical Theatre Repertoire covering genres such as comedic/character selections, Sondheim, Disney, pop/rock, punk, country, disco, and motown. Spring semester is dedicated to pre-1970 musical theatre repertoire ranging from operetta through post-golden age repertoire. Feedback concerning vocal technique, musical and stylistic choices, and communication is given each week.
