FA22 CI 569/ENGL 584 Charlesia McKinney Feminist Rhetorics and Methods What is the relationship between feminism and rhetoric? Why and how can we study the communicative practices of feminist rhetors? What does any of this have to do with writing? This graduate seminar offers an interdisciplinary survey of feminist praxis and method/ologies via a rhetorical lens. From Sojourner Truth to Meg the Stallion, we will explore the boundaries feminist concern as related to research, writing, literacy, and pedagogy via speeches, academic journal articles, podcasts, non-fiction essays, (music) videos, etc. Throughout this seminar, you will discover how your interests can be/already are studied within academic and/or public spaces. To engage a feminist viewpoint, you should be willing to discuss systems of privilege and oppression. Otherwise, come as you are -- no previous with feminism or rhetoric is required.
