Intensive or comparative study of specific repertoires of instrumental music, or of particular genres or styles of instrumental composition and performance practice, and/or of particular instrumentalists. Includes broad reading in the social and intellectual climate of the musical practices at issue; pertinent analytical approaches or paradigms; and work with relevant source materials.

4 graduate hours. No professional credit. May be repeated to a maximum of 8 hours. Prerequisite: MUS 528A (consult Class Schedule for specific section information), or graduate standing in musicology, or consent of instructor.
