Intermediate level study of Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) technology, sound design, digital audio engineering techniques, multi-track digital editing and audio processing in music composition, and the study of compositional, technical, and performance considerations as applied to electroacoustic concert art music. Weekly lab times are assigned.

2 undergraduate hours. 2 graduate hours. Prerequisite: MUS 407 or placement by examination.

Section Info:
Intermediate study in electroacoustic composition techniques, focusing on refinement of craft and deepening conceptual understanding. Topics include experimental approaches to synthesis, sampling, effects processing, sound design, and digital audio editing/mixing as applied to concert art music. Students complete creative composition projects, supplemented with regular student presentations of in-progress work, finished compositions, and selected topics on electroacoustic music. Individual studio time is assigned. Prerequisite: MUS 407.
