Political Economy of Communication
Credit: 3 hours.
Addresses significant contemporary social issues from the perspective of the political economy of communication. Issues may include, but are not limited to, the influence of money on political communication, the role of the media in American attitudes toward racial inequalities, or the politics of science reporting. This course will feature a number of recent books on social problems in the United States that have a communication twist. Class-time will be focused on discussing the books.
Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing required.
