Section Info:
The art, techniques, and politics of French cinema in the context of French culture, history, and general film development from WWII to the present. Particular focus will be on cinema's imagining and representations of itself in relationship to other arts (literature, music, painting, photography, new media, etc.) Filmmakers to be studied include Clouzot, Bresson, Resnais, Godard, Varda, Marker, Rohmer, Assayas, Kassovitz.
