Topic: The Music of Everyday Speech: Prosody and Meaning. Focuses on prosody in spoken discourse. 'Prosody' is understood as intonation, rhythm, tempo, loudness, and phrasing, and will be examined in everyday conversations, talk-shows, political speech, the second-language classroom, and motherese. Taught in English with examples from French, English, and other languages.
