Teaching Reading to Learners with Disabilities

Credit: 4 hours.

Students will learn the components of reading and how to design reading instruction for students with disabilities. Students will learn effective strategies for teaching and assessing the main areas of reading including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension to learners with disabilities.

4 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Credit is not given for SPED 442 and SPED 440, 441, 446, or 447. Prerequisite: Admission to the Department of Special Education or consent of instructor.
