Study of the major authors and texts of the early modern period (Renaissance and Baroque) with particular attention to the cultural and political contexts of sixteenth and seventeenth century Spain. Instruction in Spanish unless otherwise noted.

3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. May be repeated to a maximum of 6 undergraduate hours or 8 graduate hours if topic varies. Prerequisite: SPAN 310 and SPAN 318 or consent of instructor.
