Intensive or comparative study of specific repertoires of instrumental music, or of particular genres or styles of instrumental composition and performance practice, and/or of particular instrumentalists. Includes broad reading in the social and intellectual climate of the musical practices at issue; pertinent analytical approaches or paradigms; and work with relevant source materials.

May be repeated to a maximum of 8 hours. Prerequisite: MUS 528 A (consult Class Schedule for specific section information); graduate standing in Musicology; Music and Sound Studies graduate minor; or consent of instructor.
