A Sense of Where You Are
Section Info:
This course explores the complex interplay between the past, present, and future of our built environment. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks, practical fieldwork, critical writing, and community engagement, students will develop a deep understanding of the significance of storytelling, place, and preservation in shaping our communities. By examining the challenges and opportunities inherent in caring for our built heritage, students will cultivate the skills necessary to engage in meaningful preservation efforts and contribute to a sustainable future. In Spring 2026, this course is offered in partnership with the Humanities Research Lab, which supports undergraduate research partnerships with the Champaign-Urbana community.
