Fiber Optic Communications

Credit: 4 hours.

Characterization, design, and lab measurements of optical fibers and lightwave channels, optical transmitters, receivers, and amplifiers; quantum and thermal noise processes; design of optical receivers; multimode and single-mode link analysis.

4 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: ECE 350.
