The Art and Ethics of Animal Documentaries

Credit: 3 hours.

With the rise of both social media and documentary films, animal welfare is mainly viewed through the lens of media. This course asks students to critically evaluate information from these pieces of media and better understand the narratives and biases that can be inherent in documentaries, nature films, undercover animal rights investigations, and social media accounts. We will also explore how these media can be used to bring awareness and education about animal industries.
