Topic: "PURE DATA FOR LIVE MUSIC." The strength of Pd (Pure Data) is that it is a graphical environment that runs in real time. This allows musicians who have little to no coding experience to create electronics that are live, from electronic music performance to works for instruments and electronics to algorithmic composition. This seminar is an intense introduction to Pd including topics on sound design and interaction design with the aim of a musical work as a final project. Specific topics will be determined by students’ needs as they develop their piece. Although students with experience in languages like Max or SuperCollider may find learning Pd a little easier, this seminar is intended for absolute beginners. It is aimed at students outside of the music technology program, but any music student is welcome to join the seminar.
Restriction(s):
Restricted to students in the Music department.
