Approved for Letter and S/U grading. May be repeated to 3 hours in a semester, up to a maximum of 12 total hours. Credit is not given for more than a total of 12 hours of Independent Study (IND) courses applying to a degree in ACES. Prerequisite: Junior standing and consent of instructor.

The course will prepare students to take professional exams by reviewing exam strategy as well as providing a critical overview of financial planning fundamentals, ethics, time value of money, education funding, risk management, investment, estate planning, retirement planning and income tax. All students should have taken at least three core financial planning courses (ACE240, ACE345, ACE346, ACE440, ACE444, ACE445, ACE449, ACE398RM, ACE398EP or FIN230) prior to registering. Students are required to login and use Moodle/Learn (learn.illinois.edu ) in order to complete this course. Restriction(s): Restricted to students with Junior or Senior class standing.

Students will begin with budgeting and cash flow calculators, advancing through financial planning, investment and asset mapping software. The class will also focus on Bitcoin, blockchain, roboadvisers and how AI influences the world around us. Prereq ACE240: Any major/discipline can register.
