Section Title:
Empirical Res in IS and OM
Section Info:
This course will meet in 3015/3017 BIF. This course introduces several major research topics in business administration, focusing on empirical research in Information Systems (IS) and Operations Management (OM) that adopts causal inference methods. The objectives of this course are two-fold: 1) Nurturing students’ taste of business research so that you can tell what “good” research is. 2) Introducing several common tools for causal inferences. To achieve this goal, we will analyze a series of papers or book chapters to enhance our understanding and ability to develop empirical research. The reading materials include top journal publications, recent working papers, or research handbooks. Our particular area of focus is IS and OM. However, we may also get to borrow important insights from other fields such as Marketing and Economics. We will also go through the nuances of causal inference methods and the underlying theoretical framework to build a better foundation.
