Middle School Instruction, Philosophy and Structures

Credit: 3 hours.

This course will introduce middle school concept and philosophy; cover common instructional and assessment strategies aligned with this concept, with a specific focus on curriculum integration and the use of newer communication technologies; and will review middle school organizational structures, including teaming, advisory, alternative scheduling, exploratory classes, and parental involvement. Students will connect theory and practice by incorporating their concurrent field placement (in middle level setting) into assignments and discussions.
