Topic: The Rise and Fall of Empires in the Pre-Modern World Description: All the empires that have arisen during world history also have fallen, ranging from the Akkadian Empire in the 23rd century BCE to the British and Russian Empires in the 20th century. Sutdents in this interdisciplinary and multi-cultural seminar will investigate why an empire of their choice in Europe, Asia, Africa, or the Americas rose and fell in the pre-modern world, ca. 2500 BCE - 1550 CE.
