3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. May be repeated to a maximum of 6 hours. Prerequisite: Senior standing in music or consent of instructor.

TOPIC: 1964 In this course, we will examine the diverse trends in American music production and performance during the year 1964. Drawing from popular music, film soundtracks, contemporaneous composers and compositions, premieres, new stage productions and revivals, radio and television broadcasts, oral histories, and local archives, the course will offer unique insights into the American soundscape of just over half a century ago.
