Topic: History of the Germanic Languages In this course, we will explore the historical development of the Germanic languages, from Proto-Indo-European to the present day. We will discuss regional, cultural, and social aspects of language variation and change, with a primary focus on German and the Scandinavian languages. The course will be taught in English, though knowledge of a Germanic language (other than Modern English) will be helpful.
