Topic: Theories of Photography. This course introduces students to political and cultural debates around the status of the photographic image in the 21st century. Among the topics explored: documentary, witness/cell phone photography, surveillance imagery, (embedded) photojournalism, biometrics, the relationship between photography and cinema, and the relationship between photography and political rights.
