Continuation of PHYS 486. Topics treated include identical particles, spectral hyperfine structure, magnetic properties of matter, atomic spectroscopy of inner electrons, high-energy photon effects, molecular binding and spectra, emission and absorption of light, and symmetry principles.
Prerequisite: PHYS 486.
