This course is designed with the larger goal of enabling incoming students to achieve similar baseline levels of understanding of the fundamentals of the major topic areas, Foundational concepts for the following disciplines will be covered: genetics, behavioral health, biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology and histology, physiology, microbiology, immunology, pathology, pharmacology, anatomy and embryology and epidemiology/biostatistics. For each of these areas, there is integration of relevant clinical contexts to prepare students for their subsequent organ-system based courses.
1 TO 11 professional hours. Approved for S/U grading only. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 13 professional credits. Prerequisite: Restricted to students enrolled in the MD program at Carle Illinois College of Medicine.
