"This course will explore racial stratification in the United States with particular attention to patterns of inequality that persist across various social institutions affecting quality of life for racial/ethnic minorities. Topics to be discussed include: residential segregation, housing access, environmental racism, health disparities, educational inequalities, discrimination in hiring/labor relations, immigration, and gender/sexuality. While the focus will be on structural patterns of inequality, readings will also address the day-to-day practices that produce and sustain these racial disparities."
