Topic:Latinos and the Law. This course uses the law, primarily court cases, as the prime tool to map out the inequalities Latinas/os encounter in the U.S. across a broad array of topics: crime, equal protection, due process, land ownership, education, workplace discrimination, and religious freedom. Some of the critical cases we will review are: Hernandez v. Texas; Miranda v. Arizona; San Antonio v. Rodriguez; and Espinoza v. Farah Mfg. Co.
