Principles of Coaching Wheelchair Basketball

Credit: 2 hours.

This course focuses on the pedagogy, content, and expertise needed to teach and coach the sport of wheelchair basketball. The course will provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of wheelchair basketball, the functional classification system as it relates to an athlete's ability, appropriate feedback for wheelchair basketball players of various levels, the concept of long-term athlete development, and the intricacies of developing a seasonal plan for a wheelchair basketball team.

None Prerequisite: RST 260 - Disability in Recreation, Sport and Tourism is recommended, or consent of instructor.
