Expanded exploration of choreographic process including substantial development of technical knowledge and skills related to self-production. Students practice choreographic development, rehearsal techniques, and technical skills in service of creating a collaborative concert. Course requires presentation of the independent choreographic project in this student-produced concert at the end of term.

2 undergraduate hours. 2 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms up to 6 hours. Prerequisite: Restricted to dance majors, dance minors, and dance graduate students.

This course is a laboratory for choreographers, composers, and designers to explore the choreographic process and to develop the basic technical knowledge and skills needed to independently self-produce dance performances. Students may register with the intention of working as choreographers, composers, or visual and/or costume designers. The approval and organization of collaborative partnerships will be facilitated by the instructor as the class unfolds. Choreographers will practice choreographic development, rehearsal techniques, and technical skills in service of creating a collaborative concert. Designers and composers will collaborate to support the vision of the choreographers they are asked to work with. The course requires presentation of the independent choreographic project in this student-produced concert at the end of term. 2 undergraduate hours. 2 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms. up to 6 hours. Enrollment: Open to dance majors, dance minors, dance graduate students, and graduate dance minors. Composers, designers, and other collaborators may register with the permission of the instructor. Dance majors using this class in lieu of DANC 499 (Senior Thesis) should obtain permission from both the course instructor and the department's undergraduate director.
