Section Title:
Business in the EU
Section Info:
As Europe continues on its path towards an uncertain future, managers of multinational enterprises (MNEs) need to re-examine the competitive dynamics of the changing European context. With new challenges and opportunities for multinational firms as they consider FDI and trade implications, the EU remains a highly attractive market for MNEs, albeit a more complicated one. This course is designed to introduce students to the region, to the EU’s competitive landscape, and to the types of issues managers must consider when competing in European markets. We examine not only the internal analyses of firms' resources and capabilities but also the equally important external analysis of the institutional environment in which MNEs operate, that is, the legal, political, economic, and socio-cultural frameworks that define the rules of the game. There are currently 10 reserved seats for Gies College of Business international exchange students; any unused seats will be released to students meeting the restrictions on Friday, January 24, 2025 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Any exchange students outside of Gies College of Business that register will be removed from the course.
