Modern Spanish Literatures & Cultures

Credit: 3 hours.

Critical analysis of selected texts and periods representative of Spain's literary production from the 18th century to the present, with special attention paid to broader literary and cultural contexts. Specific sections may emphasize critical topics such as gender, ideology, literary form, nationalisms, race, and sexuality, among others. Instruction in Spanish unless otherwise noted.

May be repeated in the same or separate terms to a maximum of 6 hours, if topics vary. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: SPAN 228 or consent of instructor.
