Credit: 3 hours.

A foundational hands-on exploration of DJing practices in hip hop and other musical traditions. Students will learn to (1) develop an organized music library capable of use in DJ sets; (2) develop and use an analytic vocabulary to describe and review DJ performances; (3) identify and demonstrate foundational DJ techniques; (4) identify and begin developing advanced DJ techniques; and (5) create and perform DJ set for a live audience.
