Title: AI and the Science of Accelerated Human Learning. “Restricted to Chancellor's Scholars in the Campus Honors Program (CHP). However, non-CHP students may petition to take the class. This course explores the science of human learning and the roles artificial intelligence can play as we learn. Students will learn powerful evidence-based strategies, like retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and interleaving, while dispelling common misconceptions about how we learn effectively. With no background required, the course introduces fundamental AI concepts, including neural networks and machine learning, and will involve a high degree of hands-on activities and projects where students will learn to leverage AI tools as partners in their learning journey. The skills gained in this unique interdisciplinary course will benefit students throughout their academic careers and beyond, making them more effective learners and thoughtful users of AI technologies.
