Variety of newly developed and advanced topics courses within the field of Librarianship, intended to augment the existing Information Sciences curricula.

Additional fees may apply. See Class Schedule. 2 or 4 graduate hours. No professional credit. May be repeated in the same or separate semesters to a maximum of 16 hours, if topics vary.

This course explores academic librarianship through a variety of lenses including: history and organization of higher education; accreditation; characteristics of students; roles of faculty and other campus professionals; and current issues and challenges. In the last 15 years, an increasing number of social workers have partnered with public libraries to help address the psychosocial needs of patrons. Learn how social workers provide training to library staff on trauma informed principles, as well as boosting outreach programs to patrons. Library and social work students will gain awareness of the collaborative means the two professions seek social justice in the heart of urban, suburban, and rural communities in North America.
