Approved for Letter and S/U grading. May be repeated to 3 hours in a semester, up to a maximum of 12 total hours. Credit is not given for more than a total of 12 hours of Independent Study (IND) courses applying to a degree in ACES. Prerequisite: Junior standing and consent of instructor.

This course introduces students to advanced spreadsheet models and applications using Microsoft Excel data tools and VBA. It explores connections to external databases, PivotTables, and Custom Functions, and using VBA to extract data from webpages. Examples in this course will center on trends in interest rates and employment. The Final Project is a student-created Monte-Carlo simulation. Prerequisite: ACE 360 or comparable Intermediate Excel course or permission of the instructor.

Students will delve into the intersection of the quantitative aspects of planning with qualitative aspects of what motivates clients, examining how individual values shape financial decision-making processes and long-term goals. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and practical exercises, students will gain understanding of how to align financial strategies with their clients' core values, promoting a holistic approach to wealth management. This class is intended for Juniors and Seniors who have completed ACE 240 and, ideally, additional coursework in Financial Planning.
